Socket Mobile S700 Bluetooth Scanner

This document explains how to install and activate the Socket Mobile Scanner, model S700 for iPad.

What you will need

  • Socket Mobile Scanner S700 – Charged
  • iPad
  • Getting Started Guide (came with your scanner) If you cannot find your getting started guide, you can download it here
Tip: If you have more than one iPad, the scanner will be paired to a specific one, so you might consider labeling the scanner to match the iPad register number it is paired to, to avoid mixing them up.

Define the device in Wine Software Back Office

Choose Point of Sale Program Editor from the Point of Sale menu
Choose Add/Remove Devices, then click Add/Remove Devices button

  • Select a register number from the drop-down list at the top of the screen
  • Select Scanner as the Device from the bottom blank row
  • Select Bluetooth as the Port
  • Select Socket Mobile as the MFG
  • Select S700 as the Model
  • Click Save
  • Repeat steps 1-7 for other iPads that will use a Socket Mobile Scanner

When done, close the Point of Sale Program Editor

Pair the Scanner to the iPad

  • Power OFF the scanner
  • Turn Bluetooth OFF from the iPad Settings
  • Power ON the scanner
  • Set the Bluetooth Connection Mode by scanning the Application Mode barcode from the Getting Started Guide
  • Turn Bluetooth ON in iPad Settings and pair with the iPad

Activate device in Cash Manager for Mobile iPad App

Follow the next set of instructions for each iPad that will use a Socket Mobile Scanner

  • From the Cash Manager App, log on as if you were going to begin a new transaction
  • Tap Menu
  • Tap Settings
  • Tap Device Settings
  • Tap Refresh (note: Scanner should appear in the Device list)
  • Tap Save
  • Tap Done
  • Tap Exit from the Cash Manager Cashier logon screen to close the App
  • Re-launch the Cash Manager App
You should hear a short beep on the scanner after you logon with your cashier code

Test the Scanner

From the sales screen, scan a barcode. If found, the item will ring up. If not found, you will get a message “Item not found”. Either response will confirm you are set up and all is working as expected.

Troubleshooting

If Cash Manager is not responding to your scans, repeat the steps above to Pair the Scanner to the iPad and verify the device is showing up when you Activate it in Cash Manager Device Settings.
If you are still having trouble, please contact our support team.

Additional Information

In order to scan items, you must have the barcode programmed into the item screen for any item that you wish to scan. You must enter all digits of the barcode into the items barcode field

Duplicate barcodes

If your wine bottles are barcoded, most likely, you will have the same barcode for each vintage of that wine. In this case, when you scan the bottle, Cash Manager will detect two or more bottles have the same barcode and will present a list of the items so you can choose the correct vintage. This will help keep your inventory straight.
